As nurses, we must speak out regarding Lucy Letby's conviction. This is not just about one colleague—this case threatens our entire profession and patient safety.
Reports compiled by 14 experts have concluded no murders were committed. Let that sink in. Expert consensus directly contradicts the prosecution, yet Ms. Letby remains convicted. This should alarm every healthcare professional.
The Thirlwall Inquiry must be suspended immediately. Truth demands a complete examination of all evidence—not a selective investigation designed to confirm guilt. Justice requires nothing less.
The government's leadership, must listen to all healthcare professionals raising concerns about this case. We are fulfilling our duty of candor, yet many Nurses must remain anonymous for fear of retaliation. This is unacceptable.
Make no mistake: suppressing nurses' voices directly endangers patients. When we cannot speak freely about concerns, patient safety is compromised. Is this the healthcare system we want?
Our professional organizations and unions have failed us with their silence. Without proper representation, any of us could be next—held personally accountable for systemic failures or natural patient outcomes.
The institutional hierarchy silencing nurses must end now. Organizations prioritising reputation over legitimate concerns create dangerous environments for both staff and patients.
The expert reports expose fundamental misunderstanding of nursing practice, substandard care, natural course of illness and most importantly that NO murders were committed. We cannot stay silent. Today it's Lucy Letby. Tomorrow it could be you.
Act now. Speak up. Our profession and our patients deserve better. If you share our concerns, please consider signing up for our mailing list or write to your MP to voice your support.
